Ashes 2 Stone: Solidified Cremated Remains
What is Ashes 2 Stone?
Ashes 2 Stone is business that provides a service that transforms cremated human or pet remains into clean, and naturally beautiful “Zen stones.” These stones offer a much more meaningful and comforting way to keep, share, or scatter remains than traditional ashes and urns.
Zen oval stones are hand-crafted from 100% of your loved one’s cremated remains. The result is a collection of solidified, polished stones that vary naturally in size, surface, shape, and color. Every set is unique due to the individual composition of each set of remains. Some stones may have a rough, some may be smooth, most will have some micro bubbles or pits, this is completely normal and to be expected.

Once you complete your purchase, we send you a collection kit. You then send us the cremated remains using USPS Priority Mail Express. When we receive them, we process the remains in our lab and return them to you as solidified stones. The entire process may take 4 to 8 weeks, sometime longer depending on the waiting list. We process orders based on when your kit is received by us.

Our conversion process typically begins within a few weeks of your purchase. Converting ashes into stone is a time-consuming artisanal process and is also dependent on the number of orders we are processing at the time. Our goal is to complete the entire process and return the converted stones to you within a 6-8 week time period. We will keep you posted on where we are with your order, via text or email, so you know when you can expect your completed stones to be shipped.
The process of converting ashes to stone is a timely process, but we understand sometimes there are emergencies, and an urgent need to have the ashes processed to stones and returned as in an expedited manner. If you have an emergent need to have the ashes converted, there will be a 25% surcharge added to your order for solidification. This will bump your order to the front of the line, and we will begin processing immediately upon arrival. We will ship out your order in 3 weeks or less after we receive your ashes, or Ashes 2 Stone will refund your surcharge fee.

The process of converting ashes into stone will always create stones with numerous variations in color, size and surface texture. We have seen colors from creams and tans with reddish tones, and even some with a very pale blue/green color.

Often stones will have tiny bubble marks or small pits. Please understand that these are normal unique variations and are reflective of the mineral composition of each individual’s remains.

If within 30 days of receipt of the stones you notify us that you want to return the stones,

we will reprocess them into an ash-like powder, and return to you at no additional charge.

Although we do not recommend this, yes we can create solidified Zen stones with as little as a few tablespoons of remains, though we highly recommend sending as much as possible. The number of stones produced is directly proportional to the quantity of ashes we have to work with, so this would dramatically reduce the number of stones and would significantly decrease the concentration of cremated remains in the stones.

Our process is designed to retain as much of the remains as possible. It can be expected for minimal amount to be lost during the initial sifting process, and very trace amounts during the final sanding / polishing steps that each stone undergoes during our quality assurance protocol.

Shortly after your order is placed, we will send you a you special a collection kit that includes everything you need.

If the remains are in an urn, you may feel more comfortable with a funeral home transferring them into the collection bags in your kit.

Please do not send your ashes to us in an urn or other container. Please use the special bags we provide to assure safe and secure transit of the cremated remains for processing.
