Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Ashes 2 Stone?
What are Zen stones?
What is the solidification process like?
Once you complete your purchase, we send you a collection kit. You then send us the cremated remains using USPS Priority Mail Express. When we receive them, we process the remains in our lab and return them to you as solidified stones. The entire process may take 4 to 8 weeks, sometime longer depending on the waiting list. We process orders based on when your kit is received by us.
How long does the process take?
Can I expedite / rush my order?
Will the Zen stones all look the same?
The process of converting ashes into stone will always create stones with numerous variations in color, size and surface texture. We have seen colors from creams and tans with reddish tones, and even some with a very pale blue/green color.
Often stones will have tiny bubble marks or small pits. Please understand that these are normal unique variations and are reflective of the mineral composition of each individual’s remains.
What happens if I’m not satisfied with the stones?
If within 30 days of receipt of the stones you notify us that you want to return the stones,
we will reprocess them into an ash-like powder, and return to you at no additional charge.
Can I send only a portion of the ashes?
Although we do not recommend this, yes we can create solidified Zen stones with as little as a few tablespoons of remains, though we highly recommend sending as much as possible. The number of stones produced is directly proportional to the quantity of ashes we have to work with, so this would dramatically reduce the number of stones and would significantly decrease the concentration of cremated remains in the stones.
Will any of the ashes be lost in the process?
Our process is designed to retain as much of the remains as possible. It can be expected for minimal amount to be lost during the initial sifting process, and very trace amounts during the final sanding / polishing steps that each stone undergoes during our quality assurance protocol.
Do I need to prepare the ashes before shipping?
Shortly after your order is placed, we will send you a you special a collection kit that includes everything you need.
If the remains are in an urn, you may feel more comfortable with a funeral home transferring them into the collection bags in your kit.
Please do not send your ashes to us in an urn or other container. Please use the special bags we provide to assure safe and secure transit of the cremated remains for processing.
Are orders processed separately?
Excellent question. We take this very seriously! Every order is 100% individually processed.
We never mix remains and track every step of the process digitally with state of the art barcodes.
What if the kit or stones are lost in the mail?
Ashes 2 Stone is not responsible for loss or damage to cremated remains during transit.
We are required to ship cremated remains in specially labeled containers using priority mail via the USPS. We have seen very reliable service when the USPS is delivering cremated remains through the mail, giving loved-ones the extra care and respect they deserve.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Yes, you may cancel your order any time before we begin the solidification process.
If Ashes2Stone cancels for any reason, you will receive a full refund and your remains will be returned.
If you cancel, you will be charged for shipping the cremated remains back to you.
Is this service available outside the U.S.?
